Flag Host FAQs

  • You can expect each flag to be at your home for one to two weeks. Most flags are staked on the weekend before the event being celebrated, and picked up on the weekend after the celebration.

  • Project Rainbow does not have flags for purchase. We absolutely support our participants owning their own flags in addition to signing up for ours. We recommend purchasing from local, queer-owned stores like Cahoots or Under the Umbrella.

  • Please report the theft here.

If you are worried about the safety of your flag, we recommend bringing it in at night to prevent theft. (If you do bring your flag inside, make sure it is out and visible during the flag pick-up period so your volunteer can easily find it!) If your flag is stolen, but the rebar was left, remove the rebar to avoid anyone tripping on it, but save it for the volunteer to collect.

  • You can sign up to host multiple flags at your home or business. We prefer that the flags remain at your listed address, but if you may put one or more of these flags at another location as long as you collect them before our volunteers arrive at the registered address to be picked up.

  • Any number of flags can be ordered during the sign up period, but when we run out of flags and close registration, unfortunately the answer is no. Join our mailing list to be notified when registration opens in the future!
