Colors of the Rainbow

The Pride Flag: Symbolism & Meaning

The Pride flag is a powerful emblem of the LGBTQ+ community, symbolizing unity, diversity, and visibility. Each color represents an important aspect of life:

Project Rainbow Utah organizes inclusive campaigns throughout the year to amplify LGBTQ+ visibility across the state. Our flagship efforts include flag-staking campaigns for Pride, Trans Awareness, and other key moments of queer visibility. By distributing thousands of flags across Utah, we foster solidarity, celebrate identity, and empower our communities to stand together.

Red: Life

Orange: Healing

Yellow: Sunlight

Green: Nature

Blue: Serenity & Harmony

Purple: Spirit

The Progress Pride Flag

In 2018, designer Daniel Quasar updated the flag to highlight inclusivity and progress. The Progress Pride Flag includes additional colors to represent marginalized communities:

Black & Brown: People of Color

Light Blue, Pink, & White: Transgender Community

• The Arrow Shape: Progress and forward movement towards inclusion.

This flag is a reminder of the ongoing effort to embrace all identities within the LGBTQ+ spectrum.
